HISTORY OF QZ Solutions
Over 10 years of expertise, with more than half in Ag-Tech industry
2010
QZ Solutions was founded by Zbigniew Kawalec in 2010 as a small IT Outsourcing company. With just a few IT-guys on board we started service IT services, especially Quality Assurance. We were involved in projects across different sectors (transportation, maritime, access control systems and many more) for clients mainly from the UK and Western Europe.
2015
We got our first official R&D projects (as a subcontractor) in the computer vision area. Then, came another R&D projects also in the computer vision, mainly in the healthcare industry. This was inspirational for the founder in the context of “where we are going and what we want to do”.
2016
Zbigniew started thinking about the future of the company and quite quickly came to a conclusion that the agriculture is the direction for QZ Solutions. At the time, it was only an idea with no concrete plan, but he managed to convince the key personnel to buy into this idea and commit.
2017
We made the decision to transform the company to focus only on the agriculture sector and start doing our own products / IP.
We launched our R&D department, with Krzysztof Smykała – young PhD – as a leader with a goal to start our own first R&D project in the computer vision / remote sensing area for agriculture.
2018
We reduced the IT activities, including some clients. We recruited then other people: agronomists, PhDs, “business people” and started exploring the world of agriculture.
Since then, we invest all of our money into the R&D activities to develop new technologies and products. At that time, we decided to put focus on hyperspectral data processing and artificial intelligence. These are our core technological directions.
We also made a formal transformation of the company into a limited liability company.
2019
An idea of using hyperspectral images to analyse soil come for the first time. In November 2019, we made our first hyperspectral airplane flight to gather images and start exploring the idea. SoilEO was born.
2020
An idea of steering systems for weeders came up. In December we had built the first version of the system and attracted a VC.
2021
Harventi Vision was extracted from QZ’s IP into a separate legal entity with the help of a VC.
